Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

AutoCAD became a commercial product in 1986, when Autodesk’s successor, Micrografx, released version 1. Autodesk acquired the software in July 1991. In 1995, Autodesk released AutoCAD R10, its first version specifically designed for the drafting and layout of mechanical drawings. In 1997, AutoCAD’s first version for the Windows operating system was introduced, followed by its first version for the Macintosh platform in 1998. Since 2003, AutoCAD has been released for Linux and OS/2 as well. The latest version of AutoCAD is AutoCAD 2018.
AutoCAD 2000, AutoCAD 2001 and AutoCAD 2002 were redesigned and released as Windows-only apps (AutoCAD 2001 and AutoCAD 2002 were shareware). In late 2007, AutoCAD 2005 was rebranded as AutoCAD LT. In October 2010, Autodesk released AutoCAD LT 2013, a version of the classic desktop application for the Windows platform. The application was previously available as a part of the Star/Apex package (AutoCAD LT 2009), which was discontinued after October 2011. In May 2012, Autodesk introduced AutoCAD LT 2013 R2, a port of AutoCAD LT 2013 for the Macintosh platform. AutoCAD LT for Windows and AutoCAD LT for the Mac are based on the same codebase and share the same database. On November 1, 2016, Autodesk introduced AutoCAD LT 2018, a major upgrade to AutoCAD LT 2013 R2.
AutoCAD 2013 was an upgrade of AutoCAD LT 2013 R2. The new version of AutoCAD was released for Windows, Linux and OS/2 on April 2, 2013, and for the Macintosh platform on October 15, 2013. AutoCAD 2013 was discontinued on December 31, 2017.
From 2007 to 2012, AutoCAD was available as a package under Star/Apex. Star/Apex included an upgrade to AutoCAD LT for the Windows platform, as well as several other features, such as a tablet-optimized interface, synchronization with Microsoft SkyDrive, and a mobile app that allowed users to access the software from a Windows tablet or smartphone.
AutoCAD is available through a subscription-based model for the Windows and Macintosh platforms. Two versions of AutoCAD are available: AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD Classic. AutoCAD LT

Exclude QgsGeoAnalyseLayer from QGIS interface
I am creating a plugin for QGIS 3.0 and I need to use some of the methods defined in QgsGeoAnalyseLayer. However, these methods are defined in the C++ code and cannot be accessed in Python. I have tried to create a class that inherits from QgsGeoAnalyseLayer, and then I would have implemented my own functions in Python.
As a result, I need to hide the QGIS interface for the layer, while still using the QgsGeoAnalyseLayer class. I don’t want to use the QgsLayerTree and QgsProject classes.
Is there any way to do this?
In fact, the QgsGeoAnalyseLayer class is just a convenient abstract superclass and it has two subclasses: QgsPointAnalyseLayer and QgsLineAnalyseLayer, which both provide a method to execute the analysis on points and lines, respectively.
In your case, you could hide the methods of QgsPointAnalyseLayer for your plugin.
It can be done by overriding the methods of the class. Your plugin will not be visible at all in the point of view of the user.
Here is an example:
def intersects_with_line(self, line):
if isinstance(line, QgsLineString):
# Replace here your method for point analysis

Category:Computer-aided design software for WindowsDo you like playing with kittens? Now you can use them to take down other players! (UPDATED)
What if you could play a game of Risk and win actual kitties? What if Risk was kind of weird, and the other players were young adults? Here’s the video:
This sounds like a good idea, actually. I mean, it’s no leap of faith that risk of getting eaten by a shark should be greater than the risk of being eaten by a kid. So: a) the larger the risk, the higher the reward. So it doesn’t make much sense to eat kids. B) Kids don’t have the sort of refined taste to appreciate fine French cuisine, so you have no real incentive to eat them.
Still, it’s a weird idea. How can you turn a game of Risk into a high stakes life or death affair? How can you end up with a fuzzy kitten?
A commenter on the blog post, Noah, suggests a third version: Have one player get the other players into a life-threatening situation. For instance, say the whole group is trapped in a room without any food or water. The kitties take all the blame.
A real-life example of a game like this is Aron Ralston, the mountain climber who successfully amputated his own arm while stuck on a mountain. He did it by jamming his forearm into a boulder, using it to lever himself over a ledge, and then walking along the ledge until his arm was too dead to continue.
